Choosing a Therapist:

In November, 2000 survey, 83% of Americans felt that their spiritual faith and religious beliefs are closely tied to their mental health. 81% report that they would prefer a therapist who allows them to integrate their beliefs into the counseling process. While most well-trained therapists should respect their spiritual beliefs of their clients, not all therapists are trained and/or wiliing to integrate the client’s spiritual/religious beliefs into the counseling process.

We encourage people who are confronted with uncertainties and challenges that exhaust their emotional and spiritual resources to find a therapist who can see the possibility of hope, growth, and transformation in the process of working through painful life events. There are seldom easy answers to our struggle to find solutions to the breakdown of meaningful relationships and the loss of peace of mind.

In addition to determining the profession credentials and training of a therapist, look for one who not only has a genuine interest in helping you to understand the solution to the problem, but who will also listen to you and help to explore possible solutions addressing what can be done to prevent the behavior from reoccurring as well as how the problem occurred.
